PINK CHESTNUT TREES IN PARIS

Before this spring, we had never noticed just how many pink chestnut trees there are in Paris, and in so many different locations. There seem to be two varieties: one with a considerably more vivid pink and another which is a bit more subdued.

We thought we would give you a quick tour of just some of the most spectacular. This is by no means an exhaustive coverage. We hope you enjoy the photos and video. We’ll caption each area so you know where the photos were taken, but otherwise will leave you to enjoy the show.

SAINT-SULPICE
The image above is from Saint-Sulpice. The church has a square in front of it which is lined with pink chestnuts on three sides. Here are some more images from there.

PLACE DAUPHINE

Probably the most spectacular and best known area for pink chestnut trees is Place Dauphine – perhaps because it has so many trees and also because that is just about all the vegetation you find in Place Dauphine (there are some white horse chestnut trees at the east end of the place).

Place Dauphine seen from the balcony of the top floor apartment in Paris Perfect’s (www.parisperfect.com) wonderful apartment building at 25 Place Dauphine. You can rent this apartment for short or long stay.

PALAIS ROYAL
The Palais Royal Gardens has two very large, wonderful pink chestnut trees. The following photos were all taken there.

Here are two videos, one from PALAIS ROYAL and the other from PLACE DAUPHINE

These photos were all taken on rue d’Arcole, very near Notre Dame.

RUE DE SÈVRES
At the intersection of rue de Sèvres, rue de Grenelle and rue du Four there are a group of beautiful pink chestnuts.

That was just scratching the surface. There are so many other areas we didn’t cover. But you get the idea – there are lots of beautiful pink chestnut trees in Paris. If you visit in April or May you will be able to enjoy them. We have some images of pink chestnut trees in the shop but, as usual, if you see something here you would like to purchase as a print or a canvas and you can’t find it in the shop, contact us.
