It has become something of a tradition for us to publish a Journal post at this time of year. There is certainly no lack of material! We would like to give you a feeling for what it’s like walking around Paris before Christmas. We may possibly follow it up with a second one for this year. Let us know what you think in a comment.
Below are some more images of this year’s extravaganza at Galeries Lafayette which is probably considered the center of Christmas decoration in Paris.
Ladurée is always the epitome of elegance and style in its decor, and at Christmas this shines even more brightly. The image below is Ladurée Champs Elysées.
The following images are from three different Ladurée shops. Can you locate them?
Place Maurice Barrés on rue Saint Honoré has become a Christmas hotspot in the last few years. Dior has an amazing Christmas display and the whole square is a fairyland.
Village Royal has a completely different decor this year from last, and seems to have inherited the balloon that was in Place Maurice Barré for the last two years. It is very festive.
Some more images from Village Royal this Christmas.
Angelina is on a par with Ladurée in terms of popularity and style. What the photos below don’t show is the line of people outside the door of the rue de Rivoli Angelina waiting to get in first thing in the morning, which stretches as far as the eye can see!
Oz Garden at Flamant in Place Furstemburg has a beautiful display this year. It’s a wonderful flower shop and this Christmas they have outdone themselves.
But wherever you go, there are decorations and festivity. It’s impossible to cover it all. Below are some cafés and shop fronts that stood out. There are hundreds more.
The shop windows are always fun. Perhaps the most enjoyable are the ones at Printemps with the little platform in front so that kids can walk along and have a close-up view.
Following are some miscellaneous images taken around Paris. No doubt you will recognize the locations, or at least most of them.
Posts of Christmas Past
We hope you have enjoyed this mini tour of Paris during the holiday season this year. You will notice some omissions, such as extensive coverage of Place Vendôme, Montmartre, Champs Élysées, the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe and so on. It’s just too much to cover in one post, plus some were a bit late coming to the party (notably Place Vendôme). BUT, if you would like a sequel for this year, please leave a comment below to that effect and we’ll see how much interest there is.
We have covered the holiday season in Paris before very extensively. If you would like to see some posts from previous years, here they are. Just click on the image to open the post in a new window. We’ve even added Paris in the Snow just for fun.
HOLIDAY SEASON section of the shop
Quick commercial (would it be Christmas without commercials??) . Last year we added a section to the Parisian Moments shop devoted entirely to images of Paris during the Holiday Season. You can find it here or by clicking on the image below. The images shown are just some of the ones in the new section. It has proved quite popular throughout the year.
We are here to answer any questions or help in any way we can. Just email us.
WISHING YOU ALL A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON AND SPECTACULAR 2024!
À bientôt,
the Parisian Moments Team
