We thought we would bring you some photos and video from the early part of spring in Paris when plums and magnolias, daffodils and early cherry blossom abound.
It really is a wonderful time of year in this beautiful city.
MARKETS AND FLOWER SHOPS
Spring flowers including ranunculus and tulips in the markets and florists,
PARC MONCEAU
White plum trees and pink magnolia at Parc Monceau.
HÔTEL DE VILLE
The Hôtel de Ville is famous for the beautiful, spreading magnolias on the river side. They are almost at peak while we write this.
TUILERIES GARDENS
The Tuileries gardens are wonderful all year round, but spring starts the magic.
LES HALLES
Les Halles surprised us with an amazing display of white and pink magnolias and plum trees.
SQUARE DE LA TOUR SAINT-JACQUES
There is a magnificent little park that is not really well known – the Square de la Tour Saint-Jacques. In a setting of lawns, daffodils, elegant lamp posts, smart blue benches and a wonderful medieval tower, there stands a very fine white magnolia tree.
PALAIS ROYAL
The first signs of spring in the beautiful Palais Royal gardens are the rivers of daffodils. These are followed by deep and light pink magnolias which were at their peak around Thursday 18th March this year.
PARC CLICHY-BATIGNOLLES-MARTIN-LUTHER-KING
Another surprise was the Parc Clichy-Batignolles-Martin-Luther-King which has a fantastic display of early blooming cherry trees, in full bloom last week. There are also pink star magnolias as you will see in one or two of the photos below.
AROUND PARIS
Of course there are signs of early spring all over Paris. Following are some images from the Jardin de Luxembourg, Jardin des Plantes, the Marais, Musée de Cluny, and other locations.
The first video below is from Les Halles. The second is an early blooming cherry tree at Luxembourg Gardens.
