3 of the best places for autumn color in paris

Another autumn has come and almost gone in Paris. The weather has been spectacular and is only now beginning to start the inescapable decline into winter.

While it is well beyond the scope of this blog post to try to cover every beautiful autumnal scene in Paris, we thought we would share a few recent photos so that those of you who were not there can perhaps plan a trip for next fall. It really is one of the best times of the year to visit the City of Light.

JARDIN DU LuxembourG

Definitely one of our favorite gardens in Paris at any time of year, Luxembourg Gardens are particularly beautiful in the fall. The grounds, perhaps because they are the garden of the Palais du Luxembourg which houses the French Senate, are extremely well cared for, and plantings are changed regularly to match the seasons. Around this time in the autumn the urns around the gardens are filled with freshly planted chrysanthemums in appropriate colors for the season.

Tuileries

The Tuileries gardens are another absolute favorite of ours for autumn color. Early morning in those gardens, with the sun just coming up, only a few joggers and strollers around, is close to heaven! The pictures really do speak for themselves.

Montmartre

Montmartre is a wonderful area of Paris at any time of year. It seems to have more than its share of ivy-covered walls, grapevines and other types of plants and foliage that turn in the autumn and look beautiful, making a stroll through its streets and up and down its hills well worthwhile.

Rue Caulincourt, Montmartre.

Many other spots

As you would expect, there are many, many other locations in Paris where you get plenty of autumn color, and we should probably mention just a few. But the three above are our favorites.

The banks of the Seine are covered in ivy in some places and this turns beautiful colors in the autumn. This is a view of Île de la Cité from Île Saint-Louis.

There are many beautiful spots for autumn color to be found that are off the beaten path, such as this apartment building courtyard.

There is fall foliage to be seen in the parks and gardens which have a view of the Grande Dame de Paris, the Eiffel Tower..

We hope you have enjoyed this short autumnal tour. We could take you to many other places, parks, gardens and streets where autumn is also in full evidence. But we wanted to concentrate on our favorites. We do hope you will get to experience them for yourselves and explore the city at this time of year.

You will find some lovely autumn images in our shop which you can purchase as prints or canvases. If you would like a print or canvas of any image you do not find in the shop, please contact us.
